RUO at NOLA Mini Maker Faire 2016: Maker’s on the Bayou
Drove to NOLA with PB to exhibit our art & design studio RUO at the New Orleans Mini Maker Faire. We shared how we use 3d printers to bring our imaginations to life then used our creations to explain engineering concepts, including: printing processes, simple circuitry, and light piping. Recap and more pictures posted at ruo.space. My favorite activity was one we developed on site with the kids – we made light up “fresh catch” fish necklaces by re-purposing one of Trisha’s custom cement paver molds as a stamp, adding string and simple circuit components (i.e. LED + battery). It was a one day event so we had plenty of time to explore the city and eat yummy food too. Another highlight for me was finally swinging by the rest stop at the NASA Stennis Space Center to see the Lunar Lander trainer for the 60s moon missions : )
RUO is an art and design studio based in Atlanta, GA. We love to use technology to bring our imaginations to life. We are engineers from the South, who enjoy DREAMS (Design + Research + Art + Math + Science) and inspiring others to continue learning.
